The specialists of PTC (a member of Rail Garant Group of Companies) forecasted the lack of cement trucks for the summer period as early as in April of the current year, as summer is high season for construction. The statement was based on the following:

- The growth of construction market leads to the increase of the carriage volume;
- The disposal of cement trucks;
- The manufacture of insufficient number of cement trucks due to the change of priorities of carriage works in favor of open-box cars.

The PTC forecasts came true already in June. According to Vedomosti newspaper the construction industry is experiencing a lack of cement, which is not associated with any decrease in cement production. Quite on the contrary, the cement production is in full swing. The market players think that it is the rolling stock that is in deficit.

As PTC saw the difficulties with the railway transportation of construction goods coming, it increased the fleet of cement trucks in the second quarter of 2011. Today the Company controls some 1300 hopper type cement trucks. According to Olga Plutakhina, the Director of the Company’s Department of Transportation of Construction Goods, the Company made every effort to provide the required rolling stock for all its partners.
