Pipe Transport Company increased its flatcars fleet
17/06/11At the end of May, Pipe Transport Company completed commissioning of 37 flatcars (40’) made by CJSC Transmashholding. The contract to supply flatcars was made in April this year. Under this contract, PTC acquired 100 flatcars (model 13-9744-01), the first batch of which was commissioned in late April.
As a result of commissioning of the cars the company’s flatcars fleet has reached 1000 units, the total fleet of flatcars of the Rail Garant Group of Companies has exceeded 1500 units. Before the end of the first half-year, PTC plans to purchase additional 144 flatcars of Altayvagonzavod, JSC (models 13-2116 and 13-2116-01). Taking into account the acquisitions planned, by the end of June the PTC’s flatcars fleet will reach 1150 cars, and the number of flatcars operated by the Rail Garant Group of Companies will exceed 1700 cars. “According to our estimates, container turnover in both Russia and the world is characterized by significant growth. This is confirmed by Drewry Shipping Consultants, the British consulting company, according to which the container turnover in Russia grows annually by 18.6%, in the world – by 8,6%. The experts of that company estimate the growth potential until 2013 at 60%. In addition, Russia has a tendency to increase the transport of containerized cargo transported earlier in open cars or covered cars. Drawing on studies of independent experts and on our own experience, the development strategy of the fleet of Rail Garant and PTC in particular implies further expansion of the flatcars fleet”, the company's management said. |
